Dr. Beck obtained a doctorate (PhD) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as Masters degrees from the University of Kansas. Currently, Dr. Beck is a Professor of Management at the Cork University Business School, University College Cork, Ireland. Dr. Beck has published more than 100 academic papers and several widely read books in the areas of risk, health and health management. His recent work on occupational cancers won the 2013 American Public Health Association (APHA) Occupational Health Section’s Scientific Research Award. His earlier work on the UK Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) crisis received the Marshall Dimock award for the best lead article published in Public Administration Review in 2005.

Dr. Antonio Baldassarre is currently serving as an Occupational Medicine Physician at Careggi University Hospital of Florence, Italy. He is also a PhD student in Global and Occupational Health and International Cooperation of Mobile Populations at the University of Florence, Italy, carrying out health surveillance of healthcare workers and running and participating in several studies, such as health surveillance of formerly asbestos-exposed program of the Toscana region. He is also involved in participation to a nationally relevant study promoted by the Italian national institute for accidents at work (INAIL).

His fields of interests concern the industry 4.0 and new technologies, Health informatics, biosensors, industrial pollutants and their environmental and biological monitoring of total worker health.

Monique Chaaya, is a professor at the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health, the American University of Beirut. She holds a Doctorate of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and an MPH (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) from the American University of Beirut. Her research focusses on two priorities in public health which are: mental health and tobacco control. She conducted research studies on mental health of vulnerable populations, specifically on pregnant women, prisoners of war, displaced and older adults in underprivileged communities. She is a member of several professional associations including the International Epidemiological Association and World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH).
